Hurts expected to miss rest of season as blood-clot treatment rules out contact

October 19, 2026 · Eagles and agent statement

Jalen Hurts is expected to miss the remainder of the 2026 season while receiving treatment for blood clots. Ian Rapoport and Adam Schefter reported that outlook Monday. The Philadelphia Eagles and Hurts' agent, Nicole Lynn, separately detailed his diagnosis and the restriction that keeps him out of contact football.

Their joint statement identifies a deep vein thrombosis and bilateral pulmonary emboli, meaning clots in both lungs. It says Hurts is clinically stable, has no significant functional limitations and will receive anticoagulant treatment. He cannot participate in contact activities during that treatment. The team and agent expect a full recovery without long-term effects. Those are their stated expectations, not an independent medical assessment by Stadium & Street.

What is confirmed, and what remains an expectation

The medical statement does not supply a guaranteed return date. The reporting describes an expected season-ending absence; it should not be turned into a claim that Hurts' career is over. Nor does the public account establish that a particular journey or decision caused the condition.

Philadelphia had already placed Hurts on injured reserve Saturday. Tanner McKee started Sunday's loss to Carolina, leaving the Eagles 2-4. That result belongs to the football record. Hurts' health update should be understood on its own terms, without a diagnosis or recovery forecast inferred from how the team plays next.
