Buffalo gave its new home an opening night worth remembering. The Bills defeated Detroit 41–31 on September 17, improving to 2–0 as Josh Allen accounted for five touchdowns in the first regular-season game at the new Highmark Stadium.

Allen finished with three touchdown passes and two rushing scores, according to Buffalo's official recap. He threw for 248 yards and ran for 69. Dalton Kincaid contributed seven catches for 95 yards. Joe Brady also became the first Bills head coach to win the first two games of his tenure.

The opening matters
