Updated

Caleb Williams left Chicago's 9–3 loss to Minnesota on a cart after suffering a hamstring injury midway through the fourth quarter. The Bears confirmed the injury in their game recap. They had not announced its severity or a return timetable when this update was published.

Williams scrambled left on first-and-goal from the Minnesota 6, went down without contact and was helped to the sideline before being taken to the locker room. Three plays later, Isaiah Rodgers blocked Cairo Santos' potential game-tying field goal.

What Chicago has confirmed

Tyson Bagent finished the game. He moved Chicago from its 35 to the Minnesota 12 in the final minute, but Dallas Turner ended the possession with a fourth-down sack as time expired.

The injury will command more attention than the stat line. Williams threw for 138 yards with an interception, and Chicago repeatedly reached scoring territory without finding the end zone. The Bears are 1–1 after scoring 59 points in their opener and three in Week 2.

What remains unknown

A cart shows that the moment was serious enough to stop his day. It does not establish the grade of a hamstring injury, the length of an absence or whether Bagent will start next week. Those conclusions require the team's medical update.

Chicago is scheduled to host Philadelphia next Monday night. Until the Bears provide more information, the responsible football question is how the offense prepares both quarterbacks—not how many weeks Williams will miss.
