Rutgers hosts No. 6/5 Indiana at SHI Stadium in Piscataway on Saturday, October 3, with kickoff scheduled for 8 p.m. Eastern. This is a pregame look, not a result. Rutgers enters 1-3 overall and 0-1 in the Big Ten; Indiana is 4-0 and 1-0. The school is staging the game as part of Homecoming and its Blackout event.

The Scarlet Knights have an offensive argument for being competitive. Rutgers' official game notes list receiver KJ Duff with seven touchdown catches in four games, the most nationally at the time of the school's preview, and 137.5 receiving yards per game. Antwan Raymond is averaging 109.3 rushing yards per game. Those figures show two routes to move the ball, but they do not guarantee either will work against an unbeaten opponent.

The offense has a path, and a test

Rutgers beat Howard 58-7 last Friday after losing its first three games, including a 42-35 defeat to then-No. 12/11 USC. That contrast is the central question tonight: can the production that overwhelmed Howard hold up against a top-six Indiana team? The game is also the first Rutgers-Indiana meeting since 2023. Rutgers' notes list the all-time series as tied 5-5, with the Scarlet Knights winning the last three meetings. Past meetings do not decide this one.

Rutgers lists Big Ten Network for the 8 p.m. Eastern telecast and links live statistics on its official game page. Tickets are routed through Rutgers Athletics, but availability and prices can change. Fans attending are encouraged by the school to arrive before the pregame light show. At our afternoon source check, the game had not started, and no lineup or result is being asserted here.
