October 16 SmackDown finish guide: Williams and Paige won by pinfall, Priest by referee stoppage, Rhodes and Fenix by disqualification. No new championship transfer reported.
Original finish-type guide from WWE's dated October 16 results, checked October 17. A match result is not automatically a championship change.

Cody Rhodes won Friday's SmackDown main event by disqualification after Randy Orton attacked him during the Baron Corbin match. The closing image went beyond that formal result: Rhodes punted Corbin in front of Orton. WWE's October 16 account leaves the rivalry escalated, not resolved by a clean victory over Corbin.

A win is not a complete account of the finish

That distinction runs through the card. Rey Fenix also beat Ricky Saints by disqualification. Damian Priest's win over R-Truth came by referee stoppage. Trick Williams beat Johnny Gargano in a non-title match, while Paige pinned Nikki Bella using the ropes. The finish categories tell readers what the winners column alone cannot: how the contest ended, and how much the outcome actually settled.

Treating all five as equivalent victories would flatten the show. A disqualification establishes an official winner without a pinfall or submission. A stoppage is a different ending again. None, by itself, licenses a claim about a performer's real medical condition. This report describes WWE's presented results, not an independently established injury diagnosis.

Separate the result from what comes next

Alexa Bliss and Tatum Paxley also repelled Fatal Influence's attack. They entered this episode as women's tag team champions; their championship win was not a new October 16 development. WWE's dated results report no new championship transfer on this show. Williams' non-title victory is another reason to keep match wins and title outcomes separate.

The strongest counterpoint to a finish-led reading is that wrestling's continuing stories deliberately reach beyond the match ledger. Friday's closing confrontation supports that view. Still, the ledger supplies a necessary boundary. Orton's interference and Rhodes' response are on the record. A future match, stipulation or title change is not established merely because the next confrontation feels likely. The next official announcement, rather than the apparent direction, must supply those details.
